Erin Taylor - School Visits

with Erin Taylor

Erin Taylor is a children’s book illustrator focused on expressive characters and narrative rich scenes. Her work blends warmth, humor, and emotional clarity, with a strong sense of visual storytelling designed for pre-readers and bookworms alike.

Erin loves to educate children about the magical power of books, and the amazing world of publishing. She has given many in-school presentations and is thrilled to be able to meet so many students across the country through virtual visits!

What is a Virtual school visit?

A virtual school visit is a live, interactive remote assembly where students connect with an author-illustrator from their own classroom, school, or even from home! Using video conferencing, I join your school community for an engaging session that brings books, art, and storytelling directly to your students, no travel required.

What to Expect

Each visit is customized for your school and grade levels and typically runs 45–90 minutes, depending on your schedule and goals.

During our time together, students will:

  • Enjoy storytime — I will introduce and read one of my illustrated books.

  • Discover how picture books are made — from early sketches to finished pages.

  • Learn what it’s like to be an illustrator — the creative process, the people involved, and some of the challenges and joys of the profession.

  • Explore the power of storytelling — explore where ideas come from and how stories grow.

  • Reflect on why books matter — how stories help us understand ourselves, connect with others, and imagine new possibilities.

Sessions are interactive and age-appropriate, with time for Q&A so students can ask their own questions about creativity, publishing for fun and as a profession, and life as an illustrator. We will wrap up with a drawing lesson (if students have access to materials) or students can challenge my skills by telling me what to draw in a live drawing session!

Visits also include printable worksheets relating to the material presented, so teachers can continue exploring with their students after our time together is over.

Why Choose a Virtual Visit?

Virtual visits are:

  • Flexible and easy to schedule

  • Accessible for schools anywhere

  • Cost-effective while still highly engaging

  • A meaningful way to build excitement around reading and art

Whether you're celebrating Read Across America, launching a literacy initiative, or simply inspiring young creators, a virtual school visit is a memorable experience that reinforces the importance of books in our lives.
